I’ve discovered something about myself as of late. That I am somewhat of an old soul. I tend to appreciate the legendary sounds of traditional country more so than the modern version of that genre, love the swinging sounds and melodious jazz of the roaring twenties.
I could watch Turner Classic Movies all day and not get bored. I love period dramas and series, because they feel like time travel.
And curling up with a good book means reading Henry James’ Portrait of a Lady or Charles W. Chestnutt’s The Conjure Woman. I could get lost in one of Edgar Allan Poe’s dark fiction, and my favorite book is Animal Farm. I am definitely an old soul, perhaps trying to get back to a simpler time when life wasn’t so complex and matters weren’t so gray.
